At Open Day Bay Area, a hackathon sponsored by CityCampSF, CityCampOak, Info Alameda and Urban Strategies Council, a group of civic hackers today developed a web and mobile app for finding fee-free ATMs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

The project was developed by Max Ogden, Matt Hokanson, Ryan Jarvinen, Patrick Golden, Laci Videmsky. The code is “99atms” on GitHub and is open source licensed MIT. To get involved in its further development, contact the project leads using the form at 99atms.com.
CityCampSF awarded the project $500 for best app at the event, and project team members said they planned to use the money on refreshments at public events promoting use of the app.

Cute, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to enter your location. I suppose most smartphones have GPS, but if you can afford a smartphone, you can afford ATM fees.
Anthony, the plan is to link it to a text-to-find, if the Co-Op text option is no longer available. That’s kind of unclear based on today’s research. Meanwhile, a standard lookup is here – http://www.co-opfs.org/b2c-homepage/atm-locator/
